House of Misfits

“Why fit in when you were born to stand out.”

– Dr. Seuss

A bi-weekly open art studio where our artists can be creative in a safe and encouraging environment. Facilitated by a group of 6 volunteer art professors, social workers, and an art administrator. This past year, House of Misfits focused on design, printmaking, photography, and fiber arts. While the program centers on creating art, that sometimes takes a back seat to hanging out and listening to music in a space where everyone can feel free to be themselves. The idea came from our belief that artistic expression encourages self-esteem, and builds community. There is creative potential in all of us and the power to heal. Currently, our artists include foster children, those living with dementia and their love-givers, those experiencing homelessness, and those who have felt persecuted for their sexual identity.

ALL proceeds from sales of artwork go directly to the artist! We DO NOT accept monetary donations.
